The Tranemo 5930 92 arc rated long johns are flame retardant base-layer underwear for electricians and authorised persons working where arc flash is a risk. Rated EBT50 7.0 cal/cm² to IEC 61482-2 Class 1, in a soft 235 g/m² Cantex JX fabric, sizes XS to XXXL in navy.
Tranemo 5930 92 Arc Rated Long Johns, 7.0 cal/cm²
The Tranemo 5930 92 is a pair of flame retardant long johns worn as a base layer under arc rated workwear. It carries an EBT50 rating of 7.0 cal/cm² and meets IEC 61482-2 Class 1, so it adds a tested layer of arc flash protection next to the skin for switching, testing and maintenance work in substations and switchrooms.
Base layers matter more than people think. A non-rated cotton or synthetic underlayer can ignite or melt in an arc event even when the outer garment holds. Wearing arc rated underwear beneath your arc flash protection clothing removes that weak link.
Fabric and Standards
The long johns are made from Cantex JX fabric at 235 g/m², with a limiting oxygen index (LOI) of 30.1%. The fabric is soft and breathable enough to wear through a full shift, which is the point: PPE that gets taken off protects nobody.
