The Tranemo 5339 84 is an arc-rated hi-vis jacket in aramid fabric, rated ATPV 10.1 cal/cm² to IEC 61482-2 Class 1, with EN ISO 11612, EN 1149-5 and EN ISO 20471 Class 2 certification. Built for authorised persons, utility crews and contractors working around live MV and LV switchgear.
Tranemo 5339 84 Arc Flash Jacket, Class 1, 10.1 cal/cm²
The Tranemo 5339 84 is an arc-rated hi-vis jacket for personnel working on or near energised electrical equipment. It carries an ATPV of 10.1 cal/cm² and is certified to IEC 61482-2 Class 1, so it sits in the PPE band typically specified for MV switching, LV panel work and general substation tasks where the incident energy is at or below that level. The fluorescent aramid fabric also meets EN ISO 20471 Class 2, which matters when your team is working trackside, roadside or anywhere visibility is part of the risk assessment.
Standards and Protection
| Standard | Rating | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| IEC 61482-2 | Class 1, ATPV 10.1 cal/cm² | Thermal hazards of an electric arc |
| EN ISO 11612 | A1 B1 C1 | Flame spread, convective and radiant heat |
| EN 1149-5 | Certified | Electrostatic dissipative properties |
| EN ISO 20471 | Class 2 | High-visibility clothing |
The fabric is an aramid blend at 220 g/m² with a limiting oxygen index of 31.2%, so the flame resistance is inherent to the fibre rather than a treatment that washes out. If you are unsure how arc rated differs from simply flame resistant, our guide on the difference between AR and FR clothing explains it plainly.
Design and Practical Features

Sizes run XS to XXXL, in orange/navy, red/navy and yellow/navy. The jacket pairs with matching trousers from our arc flash jackets and trousers range, and the wider arc flash protection category covers gloves, face shields and switching suits where your study calls for higher ratings.
FAQs
Is 10.1 cal/cm² enough for our switchroom?
That depends on the incident energy at each location, which only an arc flash study or proper calculation can tell you. Always check the figure on your equipment label or study report before specifying PPE.
Does the flame resistance wash out over time?
No. The protection comes from the aramid fibre itself, not a chemical finish, so it lasts the life of the garment provided the washing instructions are followed. Inspect the jacket regularly for damage or contamination.
