FAQs

What incident energy does a 10.1 cal/cm² ATPV cover?

The ATPV of 10.1 cal/cm² means the fabric protects against incident energy up to that level with a 50% probability of a second-degree burn at the threshold. Check your arc flash study or switchgear label; if the calculated incident energy exceeds 10.1 cal/cm², you need a higher-rated garment.

Is Class 1 under IEC 61482-2 enough for MV switching?

It depends on the incident energy at the point of work, not the voltage alone. Class 1 (4 kA box test) suits many LV and some MV tasks, but your arc flash assessment should confirm the required rating for each switchroom before you specify PPE.
