The Substation Safety Class 1 Arc Flash Helmet combines an arc-rated, retractable polycarbonate face shield with an electrically insulating helmet shell for switching and live-working tasks. Certified to EN 397, EN 50365 Class 0 and GS-ET-29, it suits authorised persons, utility engineers and contractors working on or near energised LV and MV equipment.
Substation Safety Class 1 Arc Flash Helmet
The Substation Safety Class 1 Arc Flash Helmet is a combined head and face protection unit for work on or near energised electrical equipment. A high-impact polyamide shell protects against falling objects and electric shock, while the integrated polycarbonate face shield, tested to the electric arc box test at Class 1, guards the face against the thermal hazards of an arc flash. One helmet, one visor, no separate faceshield carrier to fumble with at the switchgear.

Applications
This helmet suits switching, racking and maintenance work in MV and LV switchrooms, generating stations, data centres and pharmaceutical plants, anywhere an arc flash risk assessment calls for arc-rated head and face protection. If you are unsure what incident energy your switchrooms present, our arc flash studies will tell you, and the what is arc flash guide explains the hazard itself. FAQs
Is this helmet suitable for live working?
Yes. The shell is electrically insulating to EN 50365 Class 0, rated 1000 V AC and 1500 V DC, and carries the live working symbol. It is head and face protection only, so pair it with the correct insulating gloves and arc-rated clothing for the task.
What does Class 1 mean on the face shield?
Class 1 refers to the electric arc box test under GS-ET-29, where the visor withstands a 4 kA, 0.5 second arc. It is the standard benchmark for arc-rated face protection in switchroom work. Higher incident energies may call for a switching suit hood instead.
