The ProGARM 7638 is an arc-rated, anti-static trouser in inherent VXS+ 250g/m2 flame resistant fabric, certified to IEC 61482-2 Class 1 with EBT50 of 8.7 cal/cm². Built for authorised persons, switchroom staff and contractors working on or near energised LV and MV equipment.
ProGARM 7638 Anti-Static Arc Flash Trouser
The ProGARM 7638 is an arc-rated, anti-static trouser for personnel working on or near energised electrical equipment. It is manufactured in ProGARM’s VXS+ 250g/m2 inherent flame resistant fabric and certified to IEC 61482-2:2009 Class 1 for electric arc protection, with an EBT50 of 8.7 cal/cm². Because the fabric is inherently FR rather than chemically treated, the flame resistant properties last the lifetime of the garment.
Standards and Protection
The trouser carries a full set of European norms relevant to substation and switchroom work:
| Standard | Rating |
|---|---|
| IEC 61482-2:2009 | Class 1, EBT50 = 8.7 cal/cm² (electric arc) |
| EN ISO 11612:2008 | A1, B1, C1 (flame and heat) |
| EN ISO 11611:2008 | Class 1, A1 (welding and allied processes) |
| EN 1149-5:2008 | Anti-static, charge decay |
That combination makes it a sensible everyday trouser for switching, racking and maintenance tasks where a Class 1 arc rating matches the incident energy on your label. If your arc flash study shows higher incident energies, look at the higher-rated options in our arc flash protection range. Not sure what the numbers mean? Our guide to what arc flash is explains the basics.

FAQs
Is the ProGARM 7638 arc rated or just flame resistant?
Both. It is certified to IEC 61482-2 Class 1 for electric arc (EBT50 8.7 cal/cm²) and to EN ISO 11612 for flame and heat. The VXS+ fabric is inherently flame resistant, so the protection does not wash out over the life of the garment.
Will Class 1 be enough for our switchroom?
That depends on the incident energy at each location, which an arc flash study determines. Class 1 with EBT50 of 8.7 cal/cm² suits many LV and lower-energy MV tasks, but higher-energy switching may need a higher-rated garment or switching suit. Check your equipment labels or ask us about a study.
What sizes and leg lengths are available?
Per the manufacturer datasheet: regular leg 30 to 52 inch waist (32 inch leg), tall leg 32 to 44 inch (34 inch leg), and short leg 32 to 42 inch (30 inch leg). Colour is Navy.
