The ProGARM 5286 is a long-sleeved arc-rated polo shirt for electricians, authorised persons and utility crews who need certified arc flash protection in a garment comfortable enough to wear all day. It carries Class 1 (4kA) arc protection to IEC 61482-2, with an ELIM of 5.6 cal/cm² and an ATPV of 6.2 cal/cm², and it is certified to EN ISO 20471 Class 3 for high visibility. One garment covering arc, flame, antistatic and hi-vis requirements, which simplifies PPE issue considerably.

Fabric and Construction

The shirt is made from ProGARM’s VXS+ inherent pique fabric at 210gsm. Inherent matters here: the flame-resistant and arc-rated properties are built into the fibre, so they do not wash out over the garment’s life. The fabric is breathable with good moisture management, and the soft-touch finish makes it a realistic base or mid layer under a switching suit or sweatshirt.

  • Enclosed stud placket with CE certified ThermSAFE flame-resistant poppers
  • Knitted contrast collar with tipping, holds its appearance after washing
  • Rib knit cuffs with Lycra stretch for a close fit
  • 5cm flame-resistant, antistatic reflective tape, heat applied for flexibility
  • SafetyICON label on the arm showing the EN standards at a glance

FAQs

Is the ProGARM 5286 arc rated or just flame resistant?

It is arc rated, certified to IEC 61482-2 Class 1 (4kA box test) with an ELIM of 5.6 cal/cm² and ATPV of 6.2 cal/cm², alongside EN ISO 11612 flame and heat certification. Arc rating and flame resistance are not the same thing; this garment carries both.

Will the protection wash out over time?

No. The VXS+ fabric is inherently flame resistant, so the protective properties are part of the fibre rather than a chemical treatment. Follow the care label, avoid bleach, and the performance lasts the life of the garment.
