ProGARM 2678 Arc Flash Gloves, 50 cal/cm² (ARC 4)

The ProGARM 2678 is a high-performance arc flash glove built around a three-layer construction: goatskin outer shell, waterproof and windproof membrane, and a Kevlar liner with flame-resistant Nomex insulation. It keeps hands warm and dry outdoors while carrying a 50 cal/cm² (ARC 4) open-arc rating, among the highest available in a leather glove.

As authorised ProGARM distributors, we supply the full range of arc flash gloves to utilities, generating stations, rail and industrial electrical sites across Ireland.

When to Use Them

These gloves suit outdoor switching, racking and line work where arc flash protection, cut resistance and weather protection matter at once. Arc-rated gloves protect against thermal energy, not electric shock; for live working or proving dead you still need insulating gloves of the correct class. Selection should follow the incident energy on your arc flash labels. If you are unsure, our arc flash study service will establish it, and our arc flash information hub explains the basics.

FAQs

Are ProGARM 2678 gloves insulating gloves?

No. They are arc-rated leather gloves protecting against the thermal energy of an arc flash. They are not tested to EN 60903 and give no protection against electric shock. Where live contact is possible, use insulating gloves of the correct class, typically with leather overgloves.

What does the 50 cal/cm² (ARC 4) rating mean?

It is the open-arc test result, EBT50 = 50 cal/cm²: the glove protects against incident energy up to that level. Compare it with your arc flash labels or study. If calculated values exceed 50 cal/cm², you need a higher-rated solution, typically a switching suit and hood.

What sizes are available?

Manufacturer information lists Large, XLarge and 2XLarge. The form-fit cut keeps dexterity for switching and racking, so a close but comfortable fit matters. Contact us if you need help matching sizes across your team.
