Lyngsøe Rain Jacket, Class 1 Arc Rated

The Lyngsøe Rain Jacket (ARC-LR4048) is an arc rated waterproof jacket built for outdoor substation, overhead line and switchyard work in Irish weather. It carries an IEC 61482-2 Electric Arc Class 1 rating, so it protects against the thermal hazards of an electric arc while keeping the wearer dry through a full shift in the rain. The fabric is a 50% polyester, 50% polyurethane blend at 170 g/m², light enough to wear all day without giving up the moisture barrier.

Lyngsøe is a Danish rainwear specialist whose arc rated range we supply as part of our arc flash protection offering. If you are new to arc ratings, our explainer on what arc flash is covers the basics before you specify PPE.

FAQs

Is this jacket arc rated or just flame resistant?

It is arc rated to IEC 61482-2 Electric Arc Class 1, meaning it has been tested against the thermal hazard of an electric arc, not just flame spread. That is the rating to look for when your arc flash assessment calls for arc rated rainwear rather than generic FR wet-weather gear.

What sizes and colours are available?

The jacket is available in Hi-Vis Orange and Royal, in sizes S to 3XL. If you need a different colourway or a heavier fabric weight, contact us and we can advise on other Lyngsøe models in the range.

Can it be worn over other arc flash PPE?

Yes. It is designed as a waterproof outer layer and is typically worn over arc rated workwear. Remember that the protection of the full system depends on every layer, so check the combined rating against your site’s incident energy assessment.
