Where it fits in your PPE plan
A fleece like this is normally worn as a mid-layer under an arc flash switching suit, or on its own where the risk assessment allows. Fristads publish an electric arc table of certified garment combinations, so check how it layers with the rest of your kit before you specify it. Our explainers on what arc flash is and selecting appropriate PPE are a good starting point. Browse the wider arc flash protection range for matching trousers, coveralls and hoods.
FAQs
What does Class 1 to EN 61482-1-2 mean?
Class 1 is the lower of the two box test protection classes for arc-rated clothing, assessed under EN 61482-1-2. It is a baseline level of arc protection. The jacket also has an open-arc EBT of 6.9 cal/cm² to EN 61482-1-1, and Fristads list certified garment combinations that reach Class 2.
Can I wear this fleece on its own?
That depends on your site’s risk assessment and the incident energy on the switchgear. The fleece is certified to Class 1 with an EBT of 6.9 cal/cm², but higher-risk tasks may need it layered with other certified garments. Fristads publish a combination table for exactly that purpose.
