Fristads 2042 FBPA Arc Rated Hi-Vis Trousers
The Fristads 2042 FBPA (art. no. 101046) is an arc rated, high-visibility work trouser for substation and switchroom tasks where an arc flash hazard has been identified. It is certified to the EN 61482-1-2 box test at Class 1, with an open-arc ATPV of 13 cal/cm² (HAF 81%) under EN 61482-1-1. The rating your site needs should come from an arc flash study; our wider arc flash protection range covers the matching jackets, suits and accessories.
Arc and flame ratings
Two arc test methods appear on the manufacturer datasheet: the box test (EN 61482-1-2, Class 1) and the open-arc ATPV method (EN 61482-1-1, 13 cal/cm²). The trousers also carry EN ISO 11612 (heat and flame), EN ISO 11611 (welding), EN 1149-5 (electrostatic) and EN ISO 20471 high visibility, reaching class 2 in all sizes except C44, which achieves class 1. Background on the test methods sits in our arc flash information pages.

FAQs
What does Class 1 to EN 61482-1-2 mean?
The EN 61482-1-2 box test exposes fabric to a controlled arc, Class 1 tested at 4 kA and Class 2 at 7 kA. The open-arc ATPV of 13 cal/cm² is a separate measure, and it is the figure most sites use when matching PPE to an incident-energy study.
Is 13 cal/cm² enough for our switchrooms?
That depends on the calculated incident energy at each location. Many MV switching tasks stay below 13 cal/cm², but the rating must meet or exceed the figure on your arc flash label or study. If it does not, consider a switching suit from the arc flash protection range instead.
