The Fristads Flamestat 7027 is a pair of flame-resistant long johns worn as a base layer under arc-rated workwear. Approved to EN 61482-1-2 Class 1 (box test), EN ISO 11612 A1 B1 C1 and EN 1149-5 for electrostatic properties, they give substation and switchroom personnel a certified thermal layer that will not melt or ignite against the skin in an arc flash event.
Ordinary synthetic underwear is a real hazard under arc-rated outer layers. Polyester and nylon base layers can melt into the skin at incident energies well below the rating of the outer garment, turning a survivable exposure into a serious burn injury.
