The ARC Class 2 Helmet is a dielectric helmet with a fully retractable arc flash face shield, rated Class 2 at 7 kA to GS-ET-29. EN 397 and EN 50365 VDE certified, it suits authorised persons and switching staff working on or near energised substation and switchroom equipment.
Dielectric Helmet with Integrated Arc Flash Face Shield, Class 2
The ARC Class 2 Helmet combines a dielectric safety helmet with a fully retractable arc flash face shield in a single unit. The visor protects the whole face up to the chin and, when not in use, pushes up completely between the helmet shells, so there is no separate faceshield to carry, lose, or fit at the switchgear. It is aimed at authorised persons, switching staff, and maintenance engineers working on or near energised MV and LV equipment where an arc flash risk has been identified.

Standards and Certification
| Component | Standard / Certification |
|---|---|
| Helmet | EN 397 (-30 °C), EN 50365, VDE certified |
| Visor | EN 166, EN 167, EN 168, EN 170 |
| Arc rating | GS-ET-29, Class 2, electric arc, 7 kA |
EN 50365 covers electrically insulating helmets for use on low-voltage installations, and GS-ET-29 Class 2 is the box-test arc rating for face protection at 7 kA. Together they suit switching and racking tasks where your arc flash risk assessment calls for face protection alongside head protection. For the wider PPE picture, see our arc flash protection range.
Applications
- MV and LV switching, racking, and fuse handling in substations and switchrooms
- Proving dead and applying portable earthing where an arc risk remains until the circuit is earthed
- Data-centre, pharmaceutical, and industrial switchrooms with arc flash labelling in place

FAQs
What does Class 2, 7 kA mean on the visor?
It is the GS-ET-29 box-test rating for electric arc face protection. Class 2 means the visor has been tested against an arc fault of 7 kA. Check it against the prospective fault level and incident energy identified in your arc flash assessment before specifying it for a given switchroom.
Is a fire hood required with this helmet?
Yes. The manufacturer states the helmet is to be used with the fire hood, which is included in the kit. The hood protects the head and neck areas the visor does not cover during an arc event.
