BSD Shine Weather Proof Trousers, Class 2 Arc and Rain Protection

The BSD Shine Weather Proof Trousers are high-visibility, weatherproof overtrousers for outdoor substation, overhead line and utility work where arc flash protection cannot be traded off against staying dry. They are arc fault tested to IEC 61482-1-2 at APC 2 (Class 2), with an open-arc rating under IEC 61482-1-1 of EBT 51 cal/cm² and ELIM 42 cal/cm², so they sit at the higher end of arc-rated workwear. The hi-vis yellow and navy finish meets EN ISO 20471, and the GORE-TEX laminate construction keeps the rain out, with weather protection classified to EN 343.

These are pull-over trousers that can be worn as waistband trousers or as dungarees, with a removable bib and belt loops, so they layer over standard workwear without a fight. Double-layer arc flash protection runs across the front and back areas, yet the fabric stays light, around 340 g/m², with good breathability for long shifts in poor weather.

FAQs

What arc flash rating do these trousers have?

They are box tested to IEC 61482-1-2 at APC 2 (Class 2), the higher of the two box-test classes, and open-arc tested to IEC 61482-1-1 with EBT 51 cal/cm² and ELIM 42 cal/cm². Check the incident energy on your switchgear labels before specifying.

Are the BSD Shine trousers waterproof?

Yes. They carry EN 343 Class 4/4/X weather protection and are waterproof to at least a 10 m water column through the GORE-TEX laminate, so they suit sustained rain during outdoor switching and line work.
