BSD Power Arc Flash Jacket and Bib Overall, 41.0 cal/cm²

The BSD Power Arc Flash Jacket and Bib Overall is a two-piece arc flash switching suit rated to an ATPV of 41.0 cal/cm² under the open-arc test method IEC 61482-1-1. It is designed to be worn over your everyday arc-rated clothing when the switching task or the incident-energy label on the switchgear calls for a higher level of protection than standard workwear provides.

This is the suit for the jobs where a calculated or labelled incident energy rules out ordinary AR clothing: HV and MV switching, racking, and work in front of open equipment on higher-energy boards. If you are not sure what incident energy your switchrooms present, that is what an arc flash study establishes.

Applications

Specified for switching and fault-energy exposure in utility substations, generating stations, data-centre and pharmaceutical switchrooms, and industrial HV/MV installations across Ireland. The jacket and bib overall combination gives full torso and leg coverage while remaining light enough to wear for the duration of a switching programme rather than a single operation.

Browse the full range of arc flash protection, including hoods, gloves and face protection to complete the system, and consider arc flash training so your team knows when and how to wear it.

FAQs

Is this suit worn instead of arc-rated clothing?

No. The jacket and bib overall are designed to be worn over your arc-rated base clothing as an additional protective layer for higher-energy tasks. The underlying AR garments still matter, both for coverage where the suit opens and for protection when the suit is removed between operations.

What does 41.0 cal/cm² ATPV mean for selection?

It is the incident-energy level at which the fabric system gives a defined probability of causing a second-degree burn in the open-arc test. PPE selection should be based on the incident energy calculated or labelled at each item of switchgear, typically from an arc flash study. Never assume a suit rating covers a board without that figure.
