An arc flash happens when electrical current travels through the air, jumping from conductor to conductor or from a conductor to the ground. Whether it’s caused by dust, condensation, a power failure, a wiring problem or another issue, arc flash can have truly devastating consequences.
Risks associated with arc flash include burns and injury due to heat, flying objects, and pressure blasts. While it’s not always possible to completely prevent arc flashes, you can take steps to greatly reduce the likelihood of someone suffering a serious injury due to one with Arc Flash Protective Clothing from Substation Safety.
